Hi, my name is Chris Fouss and I would like to take this time to give a little history about my company. In the spring of 1979 the entertainment company that is now known as DJ Associates was created from a sound system bought form me in high school by my father. He bought it for a group of us in our effort to start a band. Well, the band played one gig and then the system set idle for many weeks. I thought about starting a DJ Road Show or Disco Show as it was called, because of my love of music and the creativity involved in the production designs of shows. My biggest influence came from a radio DJ Road Show in the late seventies from WXIL called Big Ron’s Party Factory, with their flashy light show and pounding speakers. So in 1980, I set out to create, in my own thoughts, the Biggest Sound & Light Show in the area. My first DJ show was formed and the name was none other than Chrisco’s Disco. But as fast as Disco hit the nation, it died just as quickly, leaving me with the task of renaming my business. IN the mid-eighties the Disc Jockey industry was on the move with DJ entrepreneurs cropping up all over with DJ Shows using strong words and adjectives to promote hype and power in their names. Chrisco’s Disco became DJ Power Express sound and light show, providing extra large production lighting designs with a concert style sound system that was able to fill up large gymnasiums. These large shows enabled my business to compete in the industry. A decade passed, and with the mid nineties yet another ere emerged that became a turning point for the DJ Entertainment Industry. The growing number of mobile DJ’s were transforming into professional businesses with their focuses on quality, performance, customer service, and ethics. The old style of spinning records changed to CD’s, and now has changed to MP3’s. Also, the industry has progressed into scheduling appointments with clients to discuss sound, lighting, props, dress code, agendas, themes, and many other aspects of professional, formal engagements. These may include multi-entertainment packages, multiple DJ Shows, or event design planning. And with that, DJ Power Express moved into the professional entertainment age with set designs, production rental, installations and sales coordinating with banquet halls, schools, wedding coordinators, event planners, corporate planners, lodges, resorts, and hotels. This created my new generation, multi-tasked company now known as DJ Associates / Event Designs & Productions. We provide everything you need to make your event picture perfect and take pride in delivering top quality entertainment.
